Fall 2012 chapter meetingSaturday, October 6, 2012
9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Eastern Time) MCL Township Line Cafeteria, Richmond, Indiana Program: I. Time Management and Managing Large Projects (Diana Witt) II. Who Are You Talking To? (Sharon Hilgenberg) Bad grammar aside, this session is focused on the reader of an index. First, we’ll decide together just what an index is. Second, we’ll talk about publishers’ requirements. Then we’ll talk about writing a description of the reader to use while indexing the text. I’ll also talk about the different users I’ve developed to help me in my indexing career and how you can develop your own users. If we have time, we’ll talk about the "rhythm of the book". Sharon Hilgenberg has been an indexer for 28 years, a member of ASI for over 20 years, and has developed her own system of indexing. III. Roundtable Discussion Location and Directions: We will be meeting at the MCL Township Line Cafeteria at 3801 National Road East, Richmond, Indiana, 47374.
