Heartland Chapter of the American Society for Indexing

Who we are

The Heartland Chapter of the American Society for Indexing (ASI), founded in 1992, was officially recognized in 1994 and serves ASI members mainly from Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky. Our members include indexers and taxonomists at all levels of experience. Some of our members work in a variety of content areas, while others specialize in areas such as technical documents, scholarly works, textbooks, web sites, databases, and legal and medical materials.

We hold two annual meetings featuring speakers and workshops of interest to indexers and taxonomists. Topics have addressed the craft of indexing, starting and operating an indexing business, e-book indexing, and taxonomy basics.

Our electronic newsletter is published twice yearly, and we host an e-mail list for announcements and discussions. Membership is not required for subscription to the e-mail list—anyone may join.

If you need an indexer or would like to become an indexer, our officers and members will be eager to help you get started.
