Heartland Chapter of the American Society for Indexing

A new look for 2012

Picture
Welcome to the new Heartland Chapter website! We’ve changed things around a bit, so look around and enjoy. We want to make our support network and our content available to a broad range of indexers and publishing professionals. Kudos to Carol Reed who has designed a wonderful and very informative website for the Heartland Chapter. This will be a valuable resource containing current and past issues of our newsletter, meeting notices, member profiles, and other useful tidbits. This is a virtual way to network with each other in between the times that we meet face to face. We welcome your feedback!
                                           --Margaret Hentz, Senior Co-President

“The definition of ‘book’ is changing, and content producers are finding it easier and more profitable to sell information in bits and pieces.”   What does this mean for indexers? Read about Seth Maislin's recent presentation here.

For authors & editors

Learn about indexing or find an indexer on the “Find an Indexer” page. Feel free to contact us if you have questions.

If you're an author who's considering writing your own index, you'll find a supportive network here. However, once you learn what the process entails, you may be surprised at how cost-effective it can be to hire a professional. We'll help you either way.

For indexers

Are you an established indexer? Considering indexing as a profession? Browse our articles, attend a meeting, and contact us with questions. You'll find friendly support among Heartland members, as well as in the larger ASI community.

The American Society for Indexing

ASI promotes excellence in indexing, abstracting, and related methods of information retrieval. Visit asindexing.org for more information.
